  • The Data (Use and Access) Bill has finally been passed without an amendment that was being sought. Peers wanted to have forced tech companies to declare their use of copyright material when training AI tools. Baroness Kidron said the passing of the bill was "a pyrrhic victory at best" for the government, meaning it would lose more than it gains. There are plans for a separate AI bill. (BBC) 
  • Sony Music Group Chairman Rob Stringer weighed in on catalogue-acquisition trends, streaming-subscription pricing, AI and other hot topics in an annual presentation to investors. He said the company was now asking for further price rises and new payment tiers from major music streaming groups, and also its M&A strategy was “in no way based on random financial speculative tactics that periphery music and financial players may choose to employ”.
