"Cloonee returns with 'Not Gonna Be Your Boo' featuring Robin S. A weapon in the sets of Josh Baker, Chris Stussy, Max Dean, Luke Van Dyk, and many more. Josh previewed this when he sat in for me a couple of months ago. Cloonee has also been playing this in his own sets across the world's biggest parties including Destino, Universe, Ushuaia Ibiza and Space Miami. Cloonee announced the track last week and reverted back to the original vocal sample from Robin S. Thanks to the help of huge fan demand getting the final sample clearance over the line."

  • Scottish DJ Keith McIvor, known by his stage name JD Twitch, has died aged 57 after being diagnosed with a terminal brain tumour. (BBC, Guardian) He was one half of the duo behind Optimo, and Optimo Espacio, a weekly club in Glasgow.

  • Music-promotion firm Groover has acquired startup Temple and launched new D2F tools. (MusicAlly) 
  • Sony Music has announced a new licensing deal with Spotify. Like the other two majors, it will now directly license its songs catalogue in the US, where the streaming service previously relied on the MLC-administered compulsory licence, under which Spotify could apply a controversial bundling discount.   • The electronic music marketplace AC55ID, launched in 2024 as a Bandcamp alternative, has rebranded as Acid Nation, and updated its premium-tier payout rate, now paying artists $0.01 per stream. It also offers global shipping, vinyl pressing, customer support and audience insight services. (DJ Mag) 
  • Daft Punk is launching a collaboration with Fortnite based on its existing catalogue of music, but there's no plans to reunite. (Variety)
  • The majors have amended their Suno lawsuit, alleging that the AI company sourced music by illegally ripping files from YouTube. It follows the ruling in the authors v Anthropic case, where Anthropic’s illegal sourcing of content created big copyright liabilities, prompting a $1.5bn settlement. (MusicAlly)
