The track samples the vocal from Tony Terry's Forget the Girl which was the used by Route 94 in the Eton Messy days of the early 2010s. Now Matt's version has been a club hit all summer long. Hammered by the likes of Solomun, Marco Carola and Joseph Capriati and Solado and many, many more. We previewed it on the show before, after hearing it on Sarah Story's show, she gave me the track ID nod earlier and it's finally out on Armada Music. A rising star in the making, step up Matt Guy, with Set My Mind Free.
This week's featured Essential New Tune was featured in last week’s Friday show on BBC Radio 1. Listen again and forward to 35.15 here.
