"It comes from a Spanish producer who spends his summers in Ibiza and winters in Miami. He's been on a roll this year, very prolific indeed, with tracks like 'Stronger Than Before' with Andrea Oliva, Kings of Leon cover 'Use Somebody', 'Alma' and 'Illusion', and remixes for Hunter/Game, Jan Blomqvist and Tommy Farrow. I've been playing so many of his tracks in my sets and on this show. So it is a pleasure to say that this week's ENT is 'Kidz' from Arodes."

  • Four months after KKR revealed the acquisition of Superstruct Entertainment, CVC, which is said to have over $200bn in assets under management, has officially taken a stake in the European concert giant. (DMN) 
  • Deezer’s Q3 2024 revenue neared €134m thanks in part to the company’s continued growth in France and ongoing partnership expansions. (DMN) 
  • For Q3 to 30 September, Universal Music Group reported revenue of €2.87bn, a year-on-year increase of 4.9% in constant currency. Recorded music revenue was up 6.2% to €2.14bn, recorded music subscription revenue grew 8.2%, while streaming revenue (ad-funded) was up by 0.3%. Publishing revenue was up 2.2% to €500m. Licensing and other sources experienced a 20.4% lift to €325m. Sync was up €64m, a 16.4% improvement. Merchandising and other brought €237m, up 4.4% YoY. (Billboard)

  • Universal Music Group, ABKCO and Concord Music Group have filed a lawsuit against Believe and its distribution company TuneCore, accusing them of “massive ongoing infringements” of their sound recordings, including tracks by major artists. The companies are seeking “at least $500,000,000” in damages. (Billboard) 
  • The Night-Time Industries Association has criticised the UK Government, despite the Chancellor extending business rates relief for night-time economy businesses in the Autumn Budget by an additional two years at a reduced 40%, halving the relief, with the benefit negated mainly by a series of tax hikes that threaten the sector’s financial stability.   • Spinnin’ Records president Roger de Graaf is retiring. He co-founded the Dutch label in 1999, and Warner Music acquired the company in 2017. (Billboard)

  • YouTube has reported its second best ever quarter in terms of sales — $8.92bn in Q3 2024 revenue, attributed to YouTube Music helping grow subscription revenue and AI doing a better job of recommending videos to users. (DMN)
